As we here at TLBS cruise into our second year as a full time company I can not help but be overwhelmed with both happiness and gratitude. To be able to do something we love so much each day is more than I could have ever hoped for. Being a wedding photographer allows me to meet the most amazing people, foster my creative side, be at home with my mini aussi (wiggle butt lexi) and take pride in what I do every day. It really is the greatest gift. However, that doesn't mean it is all peaches all the time. Owning a business, and more specifically one that requires you to be physically and mentally present on very specific days, can be challenging. This year my grandfather passed away and during that time we had a double header wedding weekend. Although my family (thankfully) planned the funeral around our schedule, it was HARD to not be there as he was passing. But our brides had to come first.
SO when my sweet friend of 15 YEARS called to ask me to stand with her on her very own special day as one of her bridesmaids my heart LEAPT with joy (no matter how many times I am honored with this role, every single time I can not believe how lucky I am to be considered for the part) and sank in almost the same second. She told me her wedding date was one that we had already booked to photograph a client wedding. I could have cried. I wanted nothing more than to be there for my friend that I love and her amazing fiancé. Sometimes life just isn't fair. But then the MOST AMAZING THING HAPPENED! My friend changed her wedding date to accommodate me!
It is absolutely an honor to be in this industry. Each and every time a newly engaged couple chooses us to be their wedding photographers I am overcome with gratitude. To be involved in any part of someones wedding is so special. But to have someone decide you are important enough to CHANGE their wedding plans?!? That is the greatest honor I have ever been given.
Melissa, I am so beyond thankful that you were at my side when I said my own vows... but there are no words to describe the gift you have given me. I can not wait to watch you marry the man of your dreams... just like how we practiced as children :)
