Being able to travel is such a blessing. Shooting in new places, new light, and meeting new people is amazing. But there is also something wonderful about shooting the familiar.. the known! But traveling with family, and shooting your sister and brother-in-law? That is the BEST of both worlds! I had such a wonderful time frolicking around golden fields and moss lined trees with these two! And yes, they are this pretty in person and yes, I have a slight case of the "I'm jealous of my hot sister."
Also I have to say, this shoot was fun for another reason! I did all of the styling! So why and how is it that I managed t get full control of this shoot (other than being a bossy sister?) Well it was a surprise for Caroline! About three months back she asked me to find a photographer out in California for her to do an anniversary/christmas card session (because thats where they live!) I found a great one, and they set it up. Caroline rented a rockin' dress from rent the runway, built props, had her hair and make up done.. i mean the whole 9 yards. Well... then my sister showed her blonde roots... she drove to the wrong location that was over an hour away from the correct location... thus missing her session. She was devastated! And so was I! I mean i suffered through like 10000 "what do you think of THIS shade of purple sweater for brent to wear" texts. I mean really caroline, how many sweaters DOES he own?!? I could probably count and tell you at this point... Anyway... I really did feel so bad for her, she put so much effort into this session, and didn't have the ability to have a California redo. SO for christmas, I surprised her with the dress I bought from Nordstrom, had brent bring down this swanky (sweater free) outfit, did her hair for her, and I even made that bouquet! Which was actually really hard because we were in the middle of nowheresville where flower markets of any sort don't exist other than the neon colored walmart variety. Ewe.
Anyway, I think all in all this may be one of my most favorite sessions to dat, because well, family and stuff :) I sure do hope you enjoy it too
